Gigi’s Pizza Shop

Gigi’s is the cool, no-fuss neighbourhood choice perfect for low key date night. Head to Old Market, grab a beer, enjoy the vibe and try all the doughy goodness. You can order two completely different pizzas and go halves on one (or two) of their whopping 18" pizzas so perfect for sharing, Vodka and the Cacio E Pepe are personal faves of ours.

Bertha’s

Bertha’s is probably our pick when you want pizza night to feel like a proper date. Hidden behind the big yellow doors at Wapping Wharf, they specialise in long-fermented sourdough pizzas fired in a Neapolitan oven, with homemade gelato when you've weirdly got room for dessert after all.

Nice to take a little sunset walk around the Harbourside in Wapping Wharf after to work off some of the crust.

Bosco Clifton

For cocktails, pizza and a bit more date-night polish, head to Bosco on Regent Street in Clifton Village, there is also one on Whiteladies but this had our date vote. It has that neighbourhood Italian feel that works when you want pizza without the evening feeling overly casual. The Clifton restaurant is open daily and takes reservations.

Laura’s Pizzas

Not every great date requires going to a restaurant. Laura’s specialises in hand-stretched Neapolitan-style pizza for delivery and takeaway, making it our pick for the stay-at-home pizza date. They do have a few tables outside the unit but we're mainly here for the pizza not the ambience.

Get two different pizzas, a bottle of wine, stick a film on and swap slices. Sometimes that's better than going out.

CanCanPizza

Hidden down an alley off East Street, CanCan is part pizzeria, part canned-drinks bar, with seating outside, inside and in an intimate basement. The fun bit is building your own pizza: start with their 72-hour cold-fermented Neapolitan-style dough and customise it with whatever toppings and crust dips you fancy along with some tasty beers.

Ernie’s Pizza

Ernie’s is best when looking for cheap & spontaneous. They do things differently: New York-style pizza by the enormous slice. Slow-fermented dough, crisp bases and big 19-inch pies, with the option of just grabbing a slice if you don't want a full sit-down meal.

A cute inexpensive summer date around the harbour where you can sit by the water, drink somewhere at Wapping Wharf and watch the boats and stuff.
