Wild swim + chips by the river
Go for a dip in the Avon and head to Old Lock & Weir in Hanham for a dip followed by a bowl of chips to share by the water. Loads of spots to choose from. If you don't fancy the swim but feel like a river view, walk through Conham and get the little boat across to Beeses for drinks/food with a view.
Wildplunge — Sauna + Ice Bath Date
If sitting in a 90°C sauna before voluntarily jumping into a 2°C plunge pool sounds like your idea of romance, Wildplunge is a very fun alternative date.
Based at Farrington’s Farm Shop just outside Bristol, it has two wood-fired saunas and four cold plunge pools. Afterwards, warm back up by the fire pits with a free herbal tea and enjoy the countryside views.
Bristol street-art safari
Start around Stokes Croft, wander towards Nelson Street and the centre and check out all the street art. Cheap as chips and loads to see. After you can pop into the Bank Tavern for a pint and some actual chips..
Bowls Club Date Night
Grab some bowls and have a few games on the green. No need to know what you're doing, the Greevile Smith Bowls Club is deliberately informal, welcomes one and all, and has some snacks. Once you've established who is Bristol's least promising bowls prospect, head into Bedminster for a couple of drinks.
Bristol ferry harbour crawl
Basically a pub crawl, but by boat — which automatically makes it a better date.
Hop on the Bristol Ferry and make your way around the Floating Harbour, jumping off for a drink at a couple of Bristol’s best waterside pubs. The ferry currently stops at places including Wapping Wharf, SS Great Britain, Hotwells and The Cottage, so it’s perfect for turning a normal pint into a mini adventure.
Other spots to try:
The Ostrich — historic harbourside pub with a huge outdoor drinking area. Great starting point when the sun’s out.
Grain Barge — literally drinking on a boat while doing a boat-themed date. Very Bristol. It’s moored in the harbour and does local beers and ciders.
Nova Scotia — proper old-school pub down by the water in Hotwells.
