Best Bristol Date Spots for a Sunday Roast

The Lock Up — St George
Probably the best all-rounder for a roast date. A relaxed neighbourhood spot on Church Road with a reputation for excellent Sunday lunches, cocktails and a friendly atmosphere.
Date vibe: Proper food, wine & cosy neighbourhood energy

The Kensington Arms — Redland
Known locally as The Kenny, this is the one I'd pick when you want Sunday lunch to feel a little more special. It's a gastropub/chophouse with a particularly strong reputation for meat, wine and its Sunday menu. Locals repeatedly single it out as one of Redland's best roast options.
Date vibe: Bottle of red, seriously good roast & a long afternoon ahead

The Christmas Steps — City Centre
This is already on our pub-date radar, but it deserves another appearance. It's tiny, historic and ridiculously cosy — exactly where you want to hide on a rainy Sunday with gravy and a pint.
Date vibe: Wonky old pub + roast + rainy Bristol Sunday

The Cottage Inn — Harbourside ⚓
A go to sunny Sunday roast date. Sit overlooking the Floating Harbour, have your roast and then walk it off around the waterfront afterwards.
Date vibe: Waterside roast & post-lunch harbour walk

The Star and Dove — Totterdown
One of the more interesting choices for a foodie date. It's a beautiful neighbourhood pub in Totterdown and feels more intimate than some of the more well known Sunday lunch spots.
Date vibe: Cosy, foodie & slightly under-the-radar

The Grace — Gloucester Road
A good option for a laid-back roast followed by a Gloucester Road wander. It feels more like a great neighbourhood pub than a formal gastropub, which works nicely for an easy Sunday date.
Date vibe: Roast, pints & Gloucester Road pottering

The Farm — St Werburghs
Pick this when you want something properly relaxed. Have your Sunday lunch, a couple of drinks and then wander around St Werburghs afterwards.
Date vibe: Alternative Bristol, pints & lazy Sundays

The Bank Tavern — City Centre
This is the legendary Bristol roast date. Its Sunday lunch became famous for having an extraordinary waiting list, so I'd treat getting a table as part of the achievement rather than suggesting it for a spontaneous Sunday.
Date vibe: Bristol roast bragging rights... if you actually get in.

Cow & Sow (Queen Square) — Queen Square
More polished and more expensive, but great for a proper Sunday date rather than just popping down the pub. Current Bristol roast guides highlight its porchetta, slow-cooked beef brisket and sweet-potato Wellington.
Date vibe: Dress-up-a-bit Sunday lunch if you're feeling fancy...
