The Best way to spend a Date Day in Clifton
If you’re planning a date in Bristol and want something that feels a bit special without being too try-hard, Clifton is a very safe bet.
We’ve got great coffee, ridiculous views, antique shops you can lose an hour in, a long lunch, pub drinks, sunset over the Suspension Bridge and pizza to finish.
Start with coffee at Burra
First stop: Burra in Clifton Village. Great coffee, great people watching and a little people-watch and ease into the day.
No huge breakfast though, because you’re going to need room for a pastry approximately three minutes later...pace yourselves.

Imperative next stop: Pastries
Head to The Mall Deli for something sweet, flaky and completely impossible to eat neatly. Alternatively, if you’re on the hunt for hand crafted pastries Catley’s is packed full of amazing doughnuts and their lemon meringue is phenomenal - if one slice isn't enough you can actually book a masterclass - a great option for something super special.

Walk it off on the Suspension Bridge
Coffee in hand, pastry consumed, head over to Clifton Suspension Bridge.
Yes, it’s an obvious Clifton thing to do. Yes, you should still do it.
Walk all the way across, stop in the middle for the view, pretend you’re not taking 400 photos and then wander back towards the village.

Time for a bit of shopping
This is where the date gets dangerous for your bank accounts.
Have a wander through The Clifton Arcade, poke around some antique shops like Focus on the Past and see who can find the weirdest thing for under £20.
For anything very much not under £20 pop into Maze, a boutique championed on sustainably focused fashion from the best emerging and independent lifestyle brands for men and women, it's a dangerous place to have a browse.
Long lunch at the Lido
By now you’ve earned lunch.
Head to Book Bristol Lido and settle in for. This is not the part of the day to rush. Get a table overlooking the pool, order some tapas, have a glass of wine and enjoy briefly feeling like you’re on holiday despite being in BS8.
If you fancy swim be sure to book in advance as it gets really booked up in summer, especially on the weekends.

Pint at The Portcullis
After lunch, wander back towards Clifton Village and stop at The Portcullis. It’s cosy, unfussy and a good little reset between fancy lunch and sunset drinks. Have a beer, have a wine, say “we’ll just have one” and try to mean it as we've another stop yet...

Sunset drinks at The White Lion
Head to The White Lion before sunset and grab a drink on the terrace for one of the most iconic views in town. The view over the gorge and Suspension Bridge is one of the best in Bristol, especially when the sky is doing something dramatic.
Finish with dinner at Bosco
By this point you’ve walked, shopped, eaten, drunk, and had enough of the Suspension Bridge.
There is really only one sensible way to finish: Pizza. Head to Bosco for date night vibes over delicious food, the lighting is low and the food is incredible.
Bosco gets busy, and it's the smaller alternative to it's Whiteladies Road big sister so book this one ahead.
